YDN585 is a methylated melamine-formaldehyde resin that can be completely dissolved in water and partially dissolved in alcohols, polyols, fats, glycol ethers, and chlorinated solvents. It has good compatibility with film-forming substances such as short- and medium-oil alkyd resins, polyester resins, acrylic resins, epoxy resins, and cellulose. It has particularly good compatibility with water-based acrylic resins and polyester resins.
YDN585 can react with polymers containing hydroxyl, amide, and carboxyl groups. The low acid value of the matching main resin is sufficient to catalyze the cross-linking reaction, and it can be rapidly cured without the use of strong acid catalysts. It can undergo self-condensation and increasing the content of amino cross-linking agents can increase the hardness of the paint film. Even at lower temperatures, YDN585 resin has a fast reaction rate. During the baking process, it can reduce the volatilization of low molecular weight resins in the system, with less weight loss and lower VOC emissions, reducing the exhaust emissions during painting and baking.
The cross-linked coating of YDN585 has a low tendency to foam. It can improve the moisture resistance and salt spray resistance of water-borne coatings.
